Jane Eyre, Sue Schulze and Clare Deming
Swedesboro, NJ (June12, 2022) — Tim Morehouse veteran fencer Seunghee “Sue” Schulze finished her season strongly.
At the Fifth Annual Jung Cup, Schulze prevailed to earn a bronze medal in Veteran Women’s Saber in a field of 12 fencers from the Philadelphia area, north and south Jersey, the New York metropolitan area and even Georgia.
Coming out strong, Schulze won three of her five pool bouts to finish pools tied in fifth place. In her direct eliminations, she won 10-3 and 10-5, but fell to Vet-40 fencer and winner of the tournament Clare Deming from Lilov Fencing, 10-4.
In Mixed Veteran Saber later in the day, Schulze fought hard in a field of rated fencers, World Team members and an Olympian to come in 14th out of 25 competitors.
This was the final tournament of the Tri-State Veteran’s Cup, a series of Veteran tournaments that takes place each season. This is the first complete Cup season since 2019.
