Enrolment for the 2020-2021 Fencing Season!

Screen_Shot_2015-07-20_at_8.48.42_AM.jpg

Enrolment for the fall fencing season is now available! We've re-opened our facilities for lessons and small group training sessions, and we look forward to continuing our in-person programs into the fall months!

We ask anyone enrolling for the upcoming season to review our Terms of Service carefully especially around our Covid-19 policies and procedures. We want everyone to understand how we will handle various situations and to understand the rules. By enrolling in the club, you are agreeing to our policies including our health and safety rules, refund policies and temporary closure rules for Covid-19. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we navigate through this difficult time together.

We plan to host a few Zoom Q&A sessions over the next few weeks and we would also be happy to talk with any of you directly if you have questions about the upcoming season.

Important Notes from the Terms of Service:

  • If a facility must temporarily close because of a Covid-related issue, the Club will switch temporarily to online classes and lessons, which will be held at the same time as the in-person classes that were scheduled. The allotted time, rates and packages will remain the same as the in-person classes and lessons.

  • In addition, there will be a Mandatory Attendance or Late Cancel policy during the first two weeks of any temporary closure. A temporary facility closure is considered 14 consecutive days or less. Once the two-week window passes, you can choose to suspend or cancel, or to move your program to our online programs.

  • After 14 Consecutive Days: If a facility closure extends past 14 consecutive days, then in-person classes and lessons will continue online at the same time and under the same programs. But you then have the option to pause or cancel. You may also reschedule online private lessons to 10am-3pm on weekdays and, schedule permitting, for later times in the day.

  • Same Day Testing For Covid Exposure: If a student is exposed to Covid-19, we ask that they report this to the club immediately and then go get a rapid same-day test and report to the club the result.

We would strongly recommend reading the full document, as things are operating a bit differently due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please read our full updated terms of service at the following link:

Aspire to Inspire National Tour is a virtual series of panels that provide intimate knowledge of the student-athlete experience for fencers at colleges around the country.

The vision is to make the student-athlete experience more accessible for fencers in middle school/high school, especially during the pandemic. There will be five panels (comprised of alumni athletes from three universities per panel) which will take place between July 11 - 12, 2020.

This series of panels will provide valuable insight on the student-athlete experience at a diverse group of schools across the country. Each panelist will speak about the following topics with respect to their alma mater and their sport:

1) Student-Athlete's General Experience

2) Resources for Students and Athletes

3) Why They Chose Their Alma Mater

4) Application Process Considerations Based on Their College Experience

Best Masks to Wear for Fencing

We are looking forward to fencing in-person at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club starting on June 29th. Masks will be required for practice. Watch the video above for some recommendations on the best masks to wear for fencing.

The mask you use for practice should be comfortable and breathable, and should stay on throughout training. Masks worn around the ears and N95 masks are not ideal because they are hard to breathe in and don’t stay on. If you need to remove your mask, please keep it around your neck so we don’t confuse which mask belongs to which fencer.

Bridges To Learning Virtual Tutoring Services (for K-5th Grade)

Screen Shot 2020-06-15 at 11.36.33 AM.png

As schools, teachers, parents and, most importantly, children adjust to remote learning, the gap in our children’s education the past few months has been noticeable. Now more than ever, tutoring services for our children are at the forefront of many parents' minds.

Bridges To Learning has partnered this summer with Morehouse Fencing to bring your children virtual one-on-one tutoring sessions.

Bridges To Learning has been an on site tutoring service, focusing on K-5th grade, for the 92nd Street Y summer camps for the past 17 years. Our program is run by a professional staff of licensed teachers, all with Master's degrees and subspecialties, enabling us to handle a wide range of learning needs.

With many camps temporarily closing its doors this summer, we are continuing our services with virtual tutoring. In order to best service your children's needs, we cannot offer group sessions like we do during on site tutoring, but we will be offering one-on-one private sessions. Cost is $85 per session with a minimum of 2 sessions per week.

Please check out our website at www.bridges2learning.com or call Frieda Levitas at 917-566-2131 for more information and to sign up. Don’t delay as spaces are limited.
