Cairo, Egypt (November, 2019) - Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2020 resumed this weekend and three Olympic hopeful fencers from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club competed in the Men’s Sabre World Cup - Ziad Elsissy, Fito Western, and Jonah Shainberg.

The three TMFC fencers each represented their home countries of Egypt, Puerto Rico, USA and Team USA respectively.

Ziad Elsissy, who also coaches at TMFC, had the best result from the club as he achieved a Top-32 finish. Along the way, he defeated the #1 seeded fencer in the tournament in the round of 64 before falling 14-15 to make the round of 16.

Jonah and Fito lost close matches on the first day. All of them are competing to try to make the Tokyo 2020 Olympic team and we wish them the best of luck in the upcoming competitions!
