Richmond, VA (May 6-9, 2021) — In an abbreviated fencing season, every win counts.
The fencers from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club have worked hard throughout the year, virtually and at a distance, to emerge with some impressive results for all three weapons at the May North American Cup, the second NAC in the 2020-2021 season.
“The performance of our fencers was admirable in this challenging season,” said Tim Morehouse. “We have seen the competition on a national level and know what we have to do for the rest of the season.”
Lead Épeé Coach Alex Zurabishvilli speaking on Nowell Gibson’s performance, said: “I’m really proud of his performance on the strip and his well-deserved medal.”
“Henry Zhang, Alina Zhang and Nickolas Rusadze did well,” said Lead Foil Coach Slava Grigoriev. “They and my other fencers need to work harder in practice to be ready for the next competition.”
In addition to medals, fencers were able to earn ratings. Saber fencer Madison Four-Garcia earned her A21 rating and fellow saber fencer Amanda Li earned her C21 in the cadet event.
Action at the May NAC ran from Thursday, May 6 through Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Events contested include Division I, Junior, Cadet and Y14 in all three disciplines: épeé, foil and saber.
The June NAC will also be held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. From June 4-7, 2021 events contested will include Division I, Junior, Cadet and Parafencing for all weapons.
Congratulations fencers!
