(June 24, 2021 – Stamford, CT) – Just in time for the XXXII Olympiad of the modern era, Chelsea Piers is pleased to announce a partnership with Tim Morehouse, 2008 Olympic silver medalist and founder of the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club (TMFC). Starting in mid-August 2021, Tim Morehouse and his team of internationally recognized coaches will offer programs that range from beginner classes and youth camps to elite level fencing coaching.
Fencing, one of the original five sports of the modern Olympic Games, is a sport that combines strength, speed, agility, and mental acuity. Chelsea Piers is the third Elite club for Tim Morehouse, a testament to the rising interest in fencing amongst both youths and adults.
Tim Morehouse is a proven leader with dozens of youth fencers graduating from his programs and continuing to collegiate careers and Olympic berths. Tim Morehouse Fencing Club at Chelsea Piers will include beginner to elite level training as well as camps and private lessons in the three disciplines of fencing: foil, épée and sabre. Chelsea Piers will also integrate on-site tournament play into its already robust roster of competitive youth sports.
“Olympic years are always an exciting time for the sport of fencing,” commented Tim Morehouse, Founder, Tim Morehouse Fencing Club. “The profile of our sport has been rising among youth and adults who recognize the mental and physical fitness benefits of fencing. We are thrilled to be joining the Chelsea Piers family and growing the sport of fencing in Southern Fairfield County.”
“We are excited to welcome Tim and his team to our community,” commented Greta Wagner, Executive Director, Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “Chelsea Piers prides itself as being a destination for youths and adults to learn, practice, play and compete. We are always interested in offering both team and individual sports options. As with all our programming, we look for experienced, high level coaching combined with a talent for teaching. Tim and his team of talented coaches bring this experience.”
