Tim Morehouse Fencers Set a Record at the Neil Lazar RYC/RJCC

New Haven, CT (Nov 5-6, 2022) — It was a record-setting weekend.

Fencers from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club won seven out of eight medals in the Y-12 Men’s Saber event. Additionally, TMFC fencers accounted for 14 of the 55 fencers in the event.

Miles Chambers took the gold. Isaac Yook won silver. Bronze medals were shared by Vedh Srivats and Zihou Dai. Sawyer Cheng earned fifth place. Aram Clark won sixth place and Alexander Mermegas hung on for eighth place.

In addition, there were a great number of medal winners in all three weapons from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club.

Amabel Wang was a triple-medal winner. She earned gold in Y-12 Women’s Foil, bronze in Y-10 Women’s Foil and fifth place in Y-14 Women’s Foil.

Michael Grigoriev won gold in Y-10 Men’s Foil. Teammates Ancen Wang earned sixth place and Thomas Czarnecki took eighth. For Grigoriev’s second medal of the weekend, he earned eighth place in Y-12 Men’s Foil.

Bronze was the color of the medal Ella Calise won in Cadet Women’s Foil. Iris Yang joined her on the medal stand in fifth place. In Junior Women’s Foil, Yang earned her second medal of the weekend by taking silver in Junior Women’s Foil. Catherine Zhou took eighth place.

In Junior Women’s Saber, Brynnley McKee earned silver. In Y-14 Women’s Saber, McKee won bronze, Coco Guven took fifth place and Kiera Lauri won seventh place.

Nickolas Rusadze won gold in Cadet Men’s Foil, while his teammate Jonah Lee won fifth place. In Junior Men’s Foil, Rusadze earned his second medal of the weekend — eighth place.

Miles Chambers took a second medal in the tourney — another gold — in Y-10 Men’s Saber with teammate Aidan Song winning bronze.

Ratings were awarded with medals in Cadet Men’s Saber. Ethan Kim won the bronze and a D22 rating while Alexander Francois earned sixth place and an E22 rating.

In what we hope will become a regular happening, épéeist Timothy Beyer earned a sixth place medal in Y-10 Men’s Epée.

Madison Duckett was a gold medal winner in Cadet Women’s Saber.

William Gerrish earned bronze in Y-14 Men’s Foil. Eleanor Li also took bronze in Y-14 Women’s Foil.

Kylee Demry won her first regional medal, seventh place, in Y-10 Women’s Saber.

And in Junior Men’s Saber, Shaun Kim, coached by Robert Wang, fought hard for a bronze medal.

Congratulations fencers, coaches and families.
