Tim Morehouse Fencers Earn High School All-Academic, All-American Awards

New York, NY (August 2022) — Fencing is described as a sport of strategy as much as physical skill.

Consequently, those who succeed are usually talented in the classroom and on the strip, as the USA Fencing awards for both High School All-Academic and High School All-American Awards demonstrate.

Those recognized for both talents from the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club include Madison Duckett, Sabrina Fang, Matthew Fields, Gabriel McCarthy, Ainsley McKee, Seth Waxler, Alina Zhang and Catherine Zhou.

The Absolute Fencing Gear All-Academic Team recognizes fencers based on their grade point averages.

  • First Team honors those with GPAs of 3.85 or higher.

  • Second Team honors are bestowed to those with GPAs of 3.4 to 3.84.

More than 900 fencers in the United States earned these honors, including eight members of TMFC.

The USA Fencing High School All-American Program awards fencers based on their performance on the strip during the season.

  • First Team honors those who have earned or retained an A or B rating.

  • Second Team members have earned or retained a C or D rating.

  • Honorable mention members have earned or retained an E rating.

More than 600 fencers were honored nationwide with these awards, including 10 fencers from TMFC.

Congratulations, fencers, parents, and coaches!
