Anita Vinokur Wins Gold in Y-12 Women's Saber at the 9-State Fencing Cup

Tim Morehouse Fencing Club at Chelsea Piers CT (September 24 - 25, 2022) — Stamford Fencing Center’s Anita Vinokur won gold in the Y-12 Women’s Saber event at the 9-State Fencing Cup in Stamford, Connecticut. The 9-State Cup hosted by Tim Morehouse Fencing Club is one of the premier regional events in the country.

In a field of 25 fencers, Vinokur defeated Integrity Fencing Studio’s Sasha Dambal 15-14 in the gold medal match.

The event was live streamed on the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club You Tube channel. The broadcast featured live commentary, interviews with event winners and gold medal bouts.

The 9-State Fencing Cup

The 9 -State Fencing Cup consists of athletes from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, making up USA Fencing’s Region 3. The athletes competing in this event represent some of the best youth fencers in the country.

The event serves as a qualifier for the USA Summer Fencing Nationals this July in Phoenix, Arizona.

Locally to Connecticut, athletes will be participating from New Canaan, Darien, Stamford, Fairfield County, Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Norwalk, South Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Danbury and Fairfield.

Region 3 has some of the strongest fencing club’s in the country. Fencers from over 50 clubs participated including New York Fencing Academy, Dynamo Fencing Center, Tim Morehouse Fencing Club, Manhattan Fencing Center, Fencer’s Club, Marx Fencing Academy, Candlewood Fencing, East Coast Fencing Club, Rogue Fencing Academy, Olympia Fencing Center, Medeo Fencing Club, Arena Fencing Academy, Brooklyn Bridge Fencing, Scarsdale Fencing Center, Bergen Fencing Club, Boston Fencing Club, Way of the Sword, Gutkovskiy Fencing Center, Mission Fencing Center, V Fencing Club, Fencing Academy of Westchester, Stamford Fencing Center, Fencer’s School of Connecticut, Silver Blade Fencer’s Club, Moe Fencing Club, Rochester Fencing Center, AIC Fencing Club, Manchen Fencing Club, Sheridan Fencing Academy, Star Fencing Academy, Gold Fencing Academy, Platnum Fencing Club, Fencing Academy of Boston, Long Island Fencing Center, Mid Island Fencing Academy, Top Fencing Club, Future Stars Fencing and Sports Academy, 5-Towns Fencing Club, Manchen Fencing Academy, and the Peter Westbrook Foundation.
