The Richmond SYC/NAC was Rich With Great Fencing from Tim Morehouse Fencers

Team Morehouse Women’s Foilists

Richmond, VA (Dec 1-4, 2023) — It was a weekend of great fencing from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club members, particularly the women’s foil fencers.

They dominated the Cadet Women’s Foil event at the December SYC/Division I North American Cup in Richmond. Ella Calise won the bronze medal, Iris Yang finished in seventh place and Grace Feng took eighth. In addition, Zizi Dai made the top-16 and Eleanor Li and Selena Zhang made the top-64.

And again in Junior Women’s Foil, Tim Morehouse dominated, led by Alina Zhang who won the bronze medal. Teammates Eleanor Li, Ella Calise and Iris Yang made the top-32. Zizi Dai and Grace Feng made the top-64.

Other top results include:

• In Junior Women’s Saber, Madison Duckett won bronze.

• In Division I Men’s Saber, Shaun Kim made the top-32. Filip Dolegiewicz, Matthew Fields and Gabriel McCarthy each made the top-64.

• In Division I Women’s Foil, Alina Zhang and Grace Feng made the top-64.

• In Division I Women’s Saber, Madison Four-Garcia made the top-64.

• In Division I Men’s Foil, Mohamed Hassanin made the top-64.

• In Cadet Men’s Saber, Ethan Kim won the silver medal. Connor Chung made the top-16. Gabriel McCarthy made the top-32 and Samuel Sugiura made the top-64.

• In Cadet Women’s Saber, Varvara Mankova made the top-16.

• In Cadet Men’s Foil, Philip Matsakh, Jonah Lee and Brendan Lee all made the top-32.

• In Junior Men’s Saber, Gabriel McCarthy made the top-32 and Seth Waxler, the top-64.

• In Junior Men’s Foil, Philip Matsakh made the top-64.
