Fort Worth, TX (March 4-6, 2023) — Silver and gold, silver and gold.

As the song goes, so does Tim Morehouse Fencing Club’s Iris Yang. This accomplished young woman won two medals at the March North American Cup (NAC).

Her gold medal came in the Y-14 Women’s Foil event where she also earned her A23 rating. Teammate Ella Calise joined her on the medal stand with a bronze medal.

The silver medal was earned in the Y-12 Women’s Foil event. Teammate Grace Feng earned a bronze medal in this event.

She also competed in he Cadet Women’s Foil event, narrowly missing the medal stand, coming in ninth.

These events bumped Yang up in the national standings. She is currently ranked fourth among Y-12 Women’s Foil fencers nationally. She’s ninth on the Y-14 rankings and 20th among Cadet Foil fencers.

Yang, a Scarsdale, NY resident, is a seventh-grader at Scarsdale Middle School. When she’s not training with Coach Slava Grigoriev at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club in Port Chester, NY, she can be found hanging out with friends, reading novels and appreciating furry animals.

While she’s just turned 13, Yang has been busy on the international circuit this season. She competed in Cadet events in Nurenberg, Germany (57th), Poznan, Poland (53rd) and Budapest, Hungary (36th). Her highest finish so far was in Naples, Italy where she finished at 14.

Congratulations to Yang, her coaches and family.
