Day FIVE: A Day of Cadets and Vets, Plus Keira Lauri and Brynnley McKee Medal

Phoenix, AZ (July 4, 2023) — The Tim Morehouse Cadet Saber Women joined the medal squad.

Brynnley McKee and Keira Lauri were able to prevail and make the top-8, McKee coming in fifth and Lauri making the cut at eighth place. Both fencers were awarded their A-23 ratings.

Nickolas Rusadze narrowly missed the medal stand in Cadet Men’s Foil, coming in ninth. Vet-70 Foil fencer Madelon Rosenfeld experienced the same, also coming in ninth.

The Cadet Foil Women made the top-32 (Iris Yang at 19) with the next five making the top-64: Ella Calise at 41, Grace Feng at 43, Catherine Zhou at 51, Selena Zhang at 55 and Eleanor Li at 56T.

Varvara Mankova (45) and Sofia Schaible (49T) made the top-64 in Cadet Women’s Saber.

The National Championships and July Challenge (Summer Nationals) are in Phoenix, AZ, from June 30 to July 9. This signature tournament features 96 events (and 96 medal ceremonies) over 10 days. Medals — and national championships — will be on the line in every USA Fencing classification, from the youngest (Y10) to the most seasoned veterans (Vet 80).
