Tim Morehouse Fencing Club Launches Virtual Fencing Lessons

Stuck at home and need something fun to do? Learn Fencing! Tim Morehouse Fencing Club will be hosting online beginner Youth and Adult classes! The classes are active and fun! We are also offering 1-on-1 virtual sessions with our coaches. The classes utilize the current membership and class programs.

Our virtual fencing program launched on Sunday, March 22. This was our biggest class to date, with 82 participants involved via Zoom, along with our coaching staff!

Two classes are held daily for Youth Champions (Ages: 6-9) and Competitive (Ages: 10+) via Zoom. A code is sent 10-15 minutes before each class. There are beginner youth and adult fencing classes offered daily in the morning, afternoon and evening, 7 days per week at 10am, 3pm and 8pm EST.

The Experienced fencer programs are offered 2x daily with Elite Classes for Foil at 4pm and 6pm for Saber. Master Classes led by Olympians are offered on a specific schedule depending on the athlete.

Tim Morehouse Fencers Achieve Two Top-64 Results at the Luxembourg World Cup

Luxembourg, Luxem (March, 2020) - TMFC Fencers Jonah Shainberg, Ziad Elsissy, and Rafael Western competed in the Luxembourg World Cup. The competition took place at the National Fencing Center and the sports complex of the Lycée de Garçons Luxembourg. 173 individual international fencers competed, as well as teams from 24 countries.

Our fencers competed in Senior Men’s Saber, and achieved two Top-64 results. Jonah Shainberg came in 51st place out of 170 fencers, and Ziad Elsissy came in 59th place. Additionally, Rafael Western came in 133rd place out of 170 fencers.

On the same weekend, TMFC Fencer Fatima Largaespada travelled to Athens for the Athens World Cup to compete in Senior Women’s Saber. She came in 145th place out of 198 fencers.

New York, NY (March, 2020) - Tim Morehouse Fencing Club held its second tournament of the season, the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club E and Under. The tournament took place at our Manhattan location, and featured Open Men’s and Women’s Saber events. Tim Morehouse Fencers won two Gold Medals, one Silver Medal, and four Bronze Medals.

TMFC Coaches Diana and Luka supported the tournament as referees, alongside elite fencers Madison Four-Garcia and Fiona Niebart. Coach Melvin and Diana Mitova, the manager of our Port Chester location, formed the Bout Committee for the tournament.

In Open Women’s Saber, Scotland Jenkins won a Gold Medal, and Zayneb Saad and Tiara Masso both won Bronze Medals. In Open Men’s Saber, Alpha Balde won a Gold Medal, and Eric Ruiz won a Silver Medal. Mahammadou Tunkara and Jamie Sussman both won Bronze Medals in this category.

New York, NY (March, 2019) - Tim Morehouse Fencing Club held it’s first tournament of the year, the Tim Morehouse Youth Cup. This was a great first tournament for new students as well as a great tournament for students who have started to compete and wanted to gain more experience. The Tim Morehouse Youth Cup was organized and run by Diana Mitova, the manager of TMFC’s Port Chester location.

TMFC Fencers achieved great results at this tournament, winning Four Gold Medals, Four Silver Medals, and eight Bronze Medals. The club’s coaching staff came together to support our fencers throughout the tournament. Coaches Diana, Lancelot, Maksim, Carlos, and Kendall acted as referees, as well as our elite fencers Nicka and Yahor.

In Y-12 Mixed Saber, Enzo Bera won a Gold Medal, and Gabriel Clark won a Silver Medal. Aster Oh and Kevin Gu won both won Bronze Medals.

Morgan So won a Gold Medal in Youth-8 Mixed Saber, and Timothy Chang won a Silver Medal. Miles Chambers and Elijah Roper won Bronze Medals in this category.

In Youth-10 Men's Saber, Ryan Waxler won a Gold Medal, and Alexander Fadel won a Silver Medal in Youth-10 Men's Saber. Aster Oh and Nicolas Nordgren both won Bronze Medals.

In Y-10 Women’s Saber, Catalina Berrios won a Gold Medal, and Madeleine Eng won a Silver Medal. Rachel Krieger and Pompie Yannopoulos won Bronze Medals.

Baltimore, MD (February, 2020) - TMFC fencers headed to the Baltimore Convention Center to compete in the USA Fencing Baltimore SJCC Tournament 2020. This marked the third Super Junior and Cadet Circuit tournament of the 2019-20 season, where fencers are preparing for the North American Cup circuit and pursuing qualification for the Junior Olympic Championships and July Challenge.

Tim Morehouse Fencers won two Top-8 Medals at this tournament and achieved four Top-16 results. They were supported throughout the tournament by our coaches Maksim, Achiko, and Lindsay.

Henry Nadile won a Top-8 Medal in Junior Men’s Saber, finishing in 5th place out of 108 fencers. Chelsea Delsoin won a Top-8 Medal in Cadet Women’s Saber, finishing in 7th place out of 55 fencers.

Additionally, Top-16 finishes were achieved by Justin Morrill in Cadet Men’s Saber, Peter Hammer in Junior Men’s Saber, Richard Lin in Junior Men’s Foil, and Sophie Cannon in Junior Women’s Saber.

Manalapan, NJ (February, 2020) - Tim Morehouse Fencers competed in the Duel of the East Coast RYC/RCC, a two-day tournament at the Sportika Sports Complex. The tournament featured 24 Youth and Cadet events in Foil, Epee, and Saber.

Our students achieved strong results on the fencing strip, bringing home two Gold Medals, one Silver Medal, four Bronze Medals, and nine Top-8 Medals. They were supported throughout the events by our Coaches Fati, Lancelot, and Kendall.

This was a significant competition for our Foil Fencers, who won six medals throughout the events. Notably, Sophia Wong won a Gold Medal in Cadet Women's Foil, and Brendan Lee won a Bronze Medal in Youth-10 Men's Foil. Top-8 Medal wins were achieved by Iris Yang in Youth-10 Women's Foil, Gerald Wang in Cadet Men's Foil, Jackson Wong in Youth-10 Men's Foil, and Caroline Slaski in Cadet Women's Foil.

Our Epee fencers brought home a Bronze Medal and a Top-8 Medal at this tournament. Avni Krishna won a Bronze Medal in Youth-10 Women's Epee, and Grace Hicks won a Top-8 Medal in Youth-14 Women's Epee.

TMFC’s Y-12 Men’s Saber fencers led the club at this tournament, winning four Medals in this category. Inkosi Brou won a Bronze Medal, coming in 3rd place out of 52 fencers. Additionally Triton Oh, Enzo Bera, and Nazir Primus won Top-8 Medals. Triton came in 5th place, Enzo came in 6th place, and Nazir came in 8th place out of 52 fencers.

Additionally, Yifei Liu won a Gold Medal in Youth-10 Women's Saber, and Aram Clark won a Bronze Medal in Youth-10 Men's Saber. In Cadet Men’s Saber, Robert Wang won a Silver Medal, and Alexander Chan won a Top-8 Medal.

Pasippany, NJ (February, 2020) - Tim Morehouse Fencers competed in the Jersey Clash RYC/RJCC, a three-day tournament featuring Youth, Junior, and Cadet events. Our Coaches Kendall, Diana, Melvin, and Fati supported our students throughout the tournament. TMFC Fencers brought home one Gold Medal, five Silver Medals, five Bronze Medals, and eleven Top-8 Medals.

This was a strong weekend for our Foil fencers, who brought home six medal wins at this tournament. Notably, Gerald Wang won a Silver Medal in Junior Men's Foil, and Sophia Wong won a Bronze Medal in Cadet Women's Foil. Top-8 Medals were achieved by Alina Zhang in Junior Women's Foil, Iris Yang in Youth-10 Women's Foil, Brendan Lee in Youth-10 Men's Foil, and Iris Yang in Youth-12 Women's Foil.

TMFC’s Epee fencers also had a strong showing at this event, bringing home a Silver Medal, Bronze Medal, and Top-8 Medal. Avni Krishna won a Silver Medal in Youth-10 Women's Epee, Grace Hicks won a Top-8 Medal in Junior Women's Epee, and Samuel Kobi won a Bronze Medal in Cadet Men's Epee. Samuel earned his D20 fencing in this competition.

This was a significant tournament for our Y-10 Saber fencers, who brought home three medals in Y-10 Men’s Saber and four Medals in Y-10 Women’s Saber. Yifei Liu won a Gold Medal in Youth-10 Women's Saber, Catalina Berrios won a Silver Medal, and Georgia Klem and Isabelle Song won Top-8 Medals in this category. In Y-10 Men’s Saber, Aram Clark won a Silver Medal, Ethan Kim won a Bronze Medal, and Aster Oh won a Top-8 Medal.

In Y-12 Men’s Saber, Myles Duckett and Inkosi Brou won Top-8 Medals, and Triton Oh won a Silver Medal. Triton also brought home a Top-8 Medal in Cadet Men's Saber. He showed great determination by fencing Cadet and Youth-12 in the same day.

Additionally, Matthew Fields won a Bronze Medal in Youth-14 Men's Saber, and Aria Bevacqua won a Bronze Medal in Junior Women's Saber. Aria earned her D20 fencing in this category.

TMFC Fencers Compete at the Sabre de Wolodyjowski World Cup in Warsaw

Warsaw, Hungary (February 2020) - TMFC Fencers Ziad Elsissy, Rafael Western, and Jonah Shainberg participated at the Sabre de Wolodyjowski, a World Cup tournament held at Warsaw’s Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education. The tournament took place over three days, with 208 international athletes competing.

Our fencers competed in Senior Men’s Saber. Ziad Elsissy achieved a Top-16 result in this category, coming in 14th place out of 202 fencers. Jonah Shainberg came in 27th place and Rafael Western came in 124th place.
