Italian Fencing Master Sara Vicenzin is Joining the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club Coaching Staff!

We are very excited to announce the newest addition to the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club elite coaching staff! Please welcome coach Sara Vicenzin who will be joining TMFC at the conclusion of the 2020 Olympics!

Coach Vicenzin has been an international leader in the sport of fencing for over two decades. As an athlete, Sara was first division ranked on the Italian Women’s Saber National Ranking in both 1999 and 2000, winning two Bronze Medals at the Women’s Saber Italian Championship and earning a spot on the Italian National Team.

As a coach and trainer to some of the world’s most elite fencers, Sara has held positions including Head Coach at Gemina Scherma fencing club, Coach for the Italian National Team, and Coach for the Italian Fencing Federation. She has also served as a trainer for the Venezuelan Saber National Team, the Croatian Saber National Team, and the Japanese Saber National Team.

Sara’s students have gone on to earn Gold and Silver Medals at the South American Games, Gold and Silver Medals at the Junior World Championships, and more than 50 medals at the Italian Championships.

Sara starts coaching at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club in August, 2020 after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics at our Elite Sleep Away Camp in Boston, MA August 8-16. She will be based at our Manhattan location.

Tim Morehouse Fencing Club Finishes Top-5 in the Country at the Junior Olympics

Columbus, OH (February, 2020) - Tim Morehouse Fencers had strong results at the Junior Olympics, winning Tim Morehouse Fencing Club a place in the Top-5 fencing clubs by Medal Count in the country. The other clubs in the top-5 include Alliance Fencing Academy, Fencers Club, Nellya Fencers, and Marx Fencing Academy.

The club medal leaderboard is measured by the number of Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal wins. TMFC Fencers won one Gold Medal, one Silver Medal, and one Bronze Medal at the Junior Olympics, as well as three Top-8 Medals.

TMFC’s Junior Men's Foil Team won a Gold Medal in Junior Team Men’s Foil. The team consisted of Finn Hossfeld, Nestor Levin, Richard Lin, and Henry Zhang. Nickoloz Lortkipanidze won a Silver Medal in Junior Men's Saber, and Catherine Flanagan won a Bronze Medal in Junior Women's Foil. Additionally, Top-8 Medals were achieved by Nestor Levin in Junior Men's Foil, Adele Bois in Cadet Women's Saber, and Christina Watrall in Cadet Women’s Epee.

Colubmus, OH (February, 2020) - Students from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club headed to the Junior Olympic Championships to compete with America’s top junior and cadet athletes. The tournament took place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, where fencers participated in four days of Junior, Cadet and Junior Team events.

Our fencers had a strong showing, bringing home one Silver Medal, one Bronze Medal, three Top-8 Medals, and Gold Medals in a Junior Team event. They were supported throughout the tournament by our Saber coaches Tim, Kendall, Diana, Achiko and Michael, our Foil coaches Slava and Daniel, and our Epee coach Alex.

In Junior Men's Saber, Nickoloz Lortkipanidze came in 2nd place out of 291 competitors. He won a Silver Medal and earned his A20 fencing in this category. Catherine Flanagan won a Bronze Medal in Junior Women's Foil and earned her A20 as well. She came came in 3rd place out of 228 fencers.

Adele Bois won a Top-8 Medal in Cadet Women's Saber and earned her A20. This made her the second female fencer to win a Junior Olympic medal in TMFC history. She came in 8th place out of 206 fencers.

Nestor Levin also won a Top-8 Medal, coming in 5th place out of 246 Fencers. in Junior Men's Foil. Nestor Earned his A20 fencing in this event. In Cadet Women’s Epee, Christina Watrall won a Top-8 Medal, placing 6th out of 240 fencers.

TMFC’s Junior Men's Foil Team won a Gold Medal in Junior Team Men’s Foil. The team consisted of Finn Hossfeld, Nestor Levin, Richard Lin, and Henry Zhang. They competed against 38 other teams.

Six TMFC Foil fencers won National Points at this tournament. Christina Ferrari, and Sasha Abayeva won National Points in Junior Women’s Foil. Catherine Flanagan won National Points in both Junior and Cadet Women’s Foil. Additionally, Richard Lin won National Points in both Junior and Cadet Men’s Foil. Nestor Levin won National Points in Junior Men’s Foil, and Richard Li won National Points in Cadet Men’s Foil.

Ten of our Saber fencers won National points. William Morrill, Peter Hammer, and Justin Morrill won National Points in Cadet Men’s Saber. Nickoloz Lortkipanidze and Henry Nadile won National Points in Junior Men’s Saber. Chelsea Delsoin and Madison Four-Garcia won National Points in both Junior and Cadet Women’s Saber. Sophie Cannon won National Points in Junior Women’s Saber, and Adele Bois won National Points in Cadet Women’s Saber.

Lastly, four TMFC Epee fencers won National Points. David Pavlenishvili, Connor Kravit, and Nowell Gibson won National Points in Junior Men’s Epee. Christina Watrall won National Points in both Cadet and Junior Women’s Epee.

Suffern, NY (February, 2020) - Tim Morehouse fencers competed in the Thrust Winter RYC/RJCC, a two-day tournament that took place at Rockland Community College. Our fencers achieved strong results, bringing home 18 Medals. They were supported throughout the tournament by our Coaches Kendall, Maksim, and Achiko.

TMFC Fencers won three Silver Medals in this competition. Silver Medal wins were achieved by Triton Oh in Youth-12 Men's Saber, Brendan Lee in Youth-10 Men's Foil, and Justin Morrill in Cadet Men's Saber. Justin also earned his D20 rating fencing in this event.

Our fencers also won five Bronze Medals. Katie McGillion-Moore won a Bronze Medal in Junior Women's Foil and earned her B20 rating. Richard Li and Nickolas Rusadze tied for Bronze in Cadet Men's Foil, and both earned their C20 ratings. Additionally, Catalina Berrios won a Bronze Medal in Youth-10 Women's Saber, and William Morrill won a Bronze Medal in Cadet Men's Saber.

TMFC’s foil Fencers won three Top-8 Medals at this tournament. Iris Yang won Top-8 Medals in both Youth-10 Women's Foil and Youth-12 Women's Foil. Bethany Lee won a Top-8 Medal in Junior Women's Foil.

Our Epee fencers brought home two Top-8 Medals as well. Avni Krishna won a Top-8 Medal in Youth-10 Women's Epee, and Samuel Kobi won a Top-8 Medal in Cadet Men's Epee.

Lastly, TMFC’s Saber fencers won five Top-8 Medals at Thrust. Justin Morrill won a Top-8 Medal in Junior Men's Saber, Yifei Liu won a Top-8 Medal in Youth-10 Women's Saber, Aram Clark won a Top-8 Medal in Youth-10 Men's Saber, Alexander Fadel won a Top-8 Medal in Youth-10 Men's Saber, and Sophie Cannon won a Top-8 Medal in Cadet Women's Saber.

Traak, Egypt (January, 2019) - TMFC Fencer Ziad Elsissy competed at the Egypt Cup, a national tournament with Senior events in Foil, Epee, and Saber. Ziad competed in Senior Men’s Saber and won a silver Medal, coming in 2nd place out of 31 fencers.

TMFC Fencer Catherine Flanagan Wins a Top-8 Medal at the San Jose Junior World Cup

San Jose, CA (January, 2019) - Eight students from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club participated in the San Jose Junior World Cup, a foil tournament featuring Junior events. TMFC fencers won a Top-8 Medal and achieved two Top-16 finishes in this competition.

Our three Junior Women’s Foil Fencers achieved great results. Catherine Flanagan won a Top-8 Medal, coming in 8th place out of 52 fencers. Sasha Abayeva came in 31st place, and Christina Ferrari came in 44th place.

TMFC’s Junior Men’s Foil fencers also achieved impressive results in their event, with all five of them placing in the Top-32. Nestor Levin came in 9th place out of 60 fencers, Yiming Han came in 16th place, Zachary Binder came in 20th place, Lucas Lutar came in 21st place, and Finn Hossfeld came in 22nd place.

Manalapan, NJ (January, 2019) - Students from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club competed at Gold Finch, a two-day tournament featuring ROC (D1, D2 and Vet) and Non-Regional Junior and Cadet events. TMFC fencers brought home a Silver Medal, two Bronze Medals, and four Top-8 Medals.

Our Foil fencers led the club at this tournament, achieving Silver and Bronze Medal wins. In Cadet Men’s Foil, Gerald Wang won a Silver Medal and earned his D20. Henry Zhang won a Bronze Medal in Div1A Men’s Foil and renewed his A20. Additionally, Nathan Andrews won a Top-8 Medal in Div1A Men’s Foil.

This was also a significant competition for our Epee fencers. Anya Zakharov brought home two medals at this tournament. Anya won a Top-8 Medal in Cadet Women’s Epee, and a Bronze Medal in Junior Women’s Epee. Grace Hicks also won a Top-8 Medal in Junior Women’s Epee.

Lastly, Peter Hammer won a Top-8 Medal in Div1A Men’s Saber, coming in 5th place out of 47 fencers.
