Columbus, OH (Dec 11, 2021) — She got her gold.
The long road included many bouts, facing off against a teammate and leg cramps, but Sabrina Fang prevailed.
The foil fencer won gold in Junior Women’s Foil at the December North American Cup.
Fang, who works with Coach Slava at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club Port Chester, left pools in 32nd place having won five of her six bouts. She walked through her first three direct elimination bouts, 15-5, 15-7, 12-11 and then drew Tim Morehouse Fencing Club teammate Alina Zhang. Fang won, 15-6 and went onto medal rounds. Even though both her legs were cramping, she was able to hold on for a 15-12 victory.
In Junior Men’s Saber, Gabriel McCarthy was able to hold on and make the top-32, coming in 29th.
In Junior Men’s Foil, all of the TMFC fencers — Nickolas Rusadze, Richard Lin and Henry Zhang — were able to finish in the top half.
Congratulations Sabrina, Slava and all the TMFC Fencers!
