Metuchen, NJ (March 12-23, 2022) — There were considerable break-though wins for the Tim Morehouse Fencers this weekend.
There were three double-medal wins, ratings being awarded and so many TMFC fencers hitting the medal stand.
Madison Duckett’s weekend combo was a gold-gold in Cadet Women’s Saber and Junior Women’s Saber. Robert Wang had a gold-silver combo winning first in Cadet Men’s Saber and silver in Junior Men’s Saber, respectively and earned his C22 rating along the way. Nicholas Rusadze had a bronze-silver combo tying for third in Cadet Men’s Foil and taking silver in Junior Men’s Foil. He earned his B22 rating.
Iris Yang won gold in Cadet Women’s Foil. In Cadet Women’s Saber, Coco Guven won silver and an E22 rating while Ainsley McKee took eighth. Sophia Wong won bronze in Junior Women’s Foil along with a C22 rating. Seth Edelman earned his E22 rating and fifth place in Junior Men’s Saber.
For both Duckett and Wang, their gold medals were their first regional first-place medals in Cadet events. For Guven, her wins represent her first direct elimination win and medal in her Cadet/Junior fencing career.
“These are very important steps to becoming champions,” said Tim Morehouse of his fencers’ accomplishments. It’s also a milestone for TMFC. “Coco and Madison were some of the first students at our Port Chester location four years ago.”
Congratulations fencers, parents, and coaches!
