Richmond, VA (March 4-7, 2022) — Zihou Dai is a gold medalist.
This competitive saber fencer, a native of Mt. Kisco, proved his mettle on the national scene this weekend in Richmond.
Competing in the Youth-10 event at the March North American Cup (NAC), Dai was originally seeded eighth coming into the competition. He faced six other fencers in his preliminary pool bouts, winning against all of them, which moved him to third place. He won his direct elimination bouts 10-9, 10-8, 10-6, 10-9, before taking the gold medal in a decisive 10-4 win.
Dai trains at the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club (TMFC) in Port Chester, NY with Coach Hamdy and former Olympian Tim Morehouse. This gold medal is the first national gold medal for Dai and the first national gold medal for TMFC in the Y-10 Men’s Saber category.
Congratulations to Dai, his parents and his coaches.
