Keeping the Momentum: Young Tim Morehouse Fencers Keep Competing

Daniel Jin

Port Chester, NY — Summer Nationals may be right around the corner, but many know, the way to improve at competitions is to compete as much as possible.

Kai Toomre, a Y-10 fencer, won silver by fencing up into Y-12 Men’s Foil at the Manhattan Fencing Club’s Foil Liberty Cup on June 5th. This speaks well of his future in the coming years.

Daniel Jin took a chance and competed at his first tournament outside of Tim Morehouse Fencing Club and it paid off. He won gold in Y-12 Mixed Saber at Atlantic Fencing Academy’s Sunday Youth Saber event on June 5th.

At the Cobra International Youth/Cadet/Junior, June 11th and 12th, three young saber fencers hit the strip. Maximilian Buck took 21st place out of 44 in Y-14 Men’s Saber. Kylee Demry came out 16th out of an 18-fencer field in Y-10 Women’s Saber. Jin followed up his success from last week by taking on a field of 27 in Y-12 Men’s Saber, earning 19th place.

Congratulations fencers, coaches, and parents.
