Louisville, KY (January 6-9, 2023) — The first NAC of the year was a good one for the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club.

Olympian Eli Dershwitz kicked off the medals, earning gold in Division I Men’s Saber and renewing his A rating. Next up for the Tim Morehouse fencer is training in France before the Grand Prix in Tunisia.

Foilist Sabrina Fang won bronze in Junior Women’s Foil and also renewed her A rating.

Nickolas Rusadze took fifth place in Junior Men’s Foil, renewing his A rating.

In Vet-70 Women’s Foil, Madelon Rosenfeld placed seventh, earning a place on the medal stand.

In the best debut at a North American Cup for any Tim Morehouse fencer ever, Aaron Waxler earned two medals for his efforts.

In the open Veteran Men’s Saber, he earned a seventh-place finish and his C23 rating. In his age category — Vet-40 — he earned eighth place, competing against two former Olympians to get there.

Many of the younger fencers showed improvements and promise in the many events. Nickolas Rusadze made the top 32 in Division I Men’s Foil. Shaun Kim and Matthew Kim made the top 64 in Division I Men’s Saber. Sabrina Fang made the top 32 and Alina Zhang made the top 64 in Division I Women’s Foil. Madison Four-Garcia made the top 32 and Madison Duckett made the top 64 in Division I Women’s Saber.

The Junior Olympics are up next for the Junior and Cadet fencers. They will take place in Denver, Colorado February 17-20, 2023.
