Duel for the Schools: How it Works

Olympians Eli Dershwitz and Ziad Elsissy

New York, NY — Tim Morehouse Fencing Club proudly presents Duel for the School.

Duel for the School is an interactive crowd-funding campaign that starts in April. Teams will raise funds to help Fencing In The Schools, a program that brings varsity fencing to high school students from low-income communities.

This year, TMFC and Fencing in the Schools honor Paris 2024 Olympic fencers Eli Dershwitz, Ziad Elsissy (EGY), Amer Mohammad (EGY) and also Tim Morehouse Fencing Club's graduating high school seniors and cadet World Team members.

HOW DUEL FOR THE SCHOOL WORKS

Team Captains Each team will have a captain who commits to donating or helping us raise $5,000 towards the campaign and event. In addition, each team captain will field a team of five adults at the Duel For The School event on Saturday, June 15. From 4 pm to 5 pm, their team will receive a group fencing lesson from one of our Olympians before competing together to win the Duel For The School championship! And the that raises the most money picks their coach first!

Participants do not need any prior fencing experience and equipment will be provided for the teams.

Each Team Captain can help support the campaign by:

  • Raising money and/or donating to help us bring varsity fencing to high school students from low-income communities.

  • Recruiting members to join their team and donate.

  • Sharing the website and video on their social media networks (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) with the link and tagging @DuelFortheSchool

  • Setting a fundraising target and urging your friends, family and followers to donate to your team to help!
