Olympian Jeff Spear made a special guest appearance at the Saber Elite Class, tuning in from Oklahoma to lead a great footwork session. In another session, Jeff Spear and Olympic Hopeful Jonah Shainberg closed the class with some final words enforcing the importance of community in this challenging time.

“We’re in this for the long haul but we’re here together. It’s really challenging but everyone in the whole world is in the same boat. We’re all coming together to face the challenges ahead”

- Olympian Jeff Spear to TMFC’s online fencing community

Students are also taking one-on-one and semi-private lessons with their coaches. This has helped them stay connected and keep up their regular training routine. Students are able to benefit from video review, individual training sessions, and more.

Thank you to everyone who has joined - we’re excited to see you in class this week!

Testimonials from fencers and parents:

“In a time where there is a lot of uncertainty in almost all aspects of life, it's a great relief to be able to still have an hour everyday to spend time practicing the sport I love which wouldn't be possible without the support system of coaches from TMFC. Even though I miss being at the club and being able to interact with my closest friends and coaches, the online system allows all of us to able to practice together even if we are states apart. Our coaches work hard to make the online system both enjoyable and intense and are doing an amazing job at it! The special guests are also an amazing plus as we are able to see and learn from old coaches and club mates who are training for the olympics or haven't been at the club in while as well as a variety of experts in the field who share valuable experiences and knowledge”

- Madison, student at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club

“Tim and the entire staff at Morehouse Fencing have worked incredibly hard to preserve the spirit and camaraderie of the club during these difficult times. It's great to see our two boys able to continue their workouts and not lose ground while we're stuck at home. Even in our small apartment, our teenagers can work on style, footwork and conditioning and receive personal feedback on their technique”

- Michelle Morrill, mother of William and Justin, two nationally ranked fencers

“Keeping my two boys safe yet active during the pandemic is a challenge. We couldn’t be more grateful that Tim Morehouse Fencing Club now offers online classes and lessons. My kids are able to continue their classes from home and even have their lessons with their regular coaches. Amazing!”

- Lily Clark, parent of TMFC fencers
