Port Chester, NY (October 29, 2022) — While there may have been only a few gold medals, everyone at the second Morehouse Saber Youth Cup was a winner.
Testing skills at a local tournament is the way to learn to be a great competitor. Learning what it feels like to stand on the line when your referee calls “Ready, fence!” is a skill. The more you do it, the better you start. Figuring out strategies for pool fencing versus direct elimination fencing can only be done while experiencing these types of bouts.
The Tim Morehouse Saber Youth Cup competitions are designed for young fencers to learn all of these skills and more. And if you’re lucky and figure some things out, you can win your first gold like Anika von Marie Kabiling did this week in Y-8 Women’s Saber.
Congratulations to all who participated in this competition — you’re all winners.
