Coach Ziad and Robert Wang
Valley Forge, PA (April 17, 2022) — Tim Morehouse Fencing Club records are made to be broken.
In the case of most bouts won in a day, saber fencer Robert Wang has set the bar high with 19 wins on Sunday at the Valley Forge Convention Center.
Competing in the Duel of the East Coast in two back-to-back events, Wang won gold in Cadet Men’s Saber and fifth place in Y-14 Men’s Saber.
In his Cadet pools, he sailed through with six wins to take second place. In the direct elimination rounds, he won 15-2, 15-14, 15-12, 15-10 and finally 15-9, using a move borrowed from Coach Ziad Elsissy referred to as the “Rockettes leg attack.”
In his Y-14 pool bouts, he won all five of his matches. His stamina gave out after one DE win and he came out in fifth place.
