Minneapolis, MN (July 3, 2022) — Action is heating up for both foil and saber fencers at Summer Nationals.
The older men’s saber fencers from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club hit the strips for the second straight day for Division IA action. Seth Edelman, who will be fencing for Brandeis this fall, cracked the top-64, coming in 41st. Matthew Kim, Gabriel McCarthy and Matthew Fields all finished in the 80s after fencing hard through pools and elimination rounds.
Junior Men’s Foil was hotly contested with an enormous field of 293. TMFC’s Lucas Lutar, Matthew Breier, Richard Lin and Henry Zhang all finished in the top half.
Madison Duckett made the top-64 in Junior Women’s Saber, tying at 43. Teammate Brynnley McKee made the top half.

The 2022 USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge are taking place at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minnesota from July 2–11, 2022. More than 4,500 competitors from 45 states and 12 foreign countries are competing in more than 100 events over 10 days. Fencers range from age seven to 84, competing in events that start as Y-10 and run to Veteran-80 with all imaginable categories of age, gender, and weapon in between.
